About Hypnotherapy

Will I lose 'control' in Hypnosis ?

No. Rest assured that you fully maintain full control of your mind when under hypnosis. No one can make you do something you don't want to do.

During Hypnosis you are in fact in greater control of your faculties than ever.

What is really happening?

You are gently guided into a relaxed state of REM (Rapid eye movement), when we naturally lay down new patterns of behaviour.

I then act as a 'guide' to assist you with your personal development and growth. We will then cement the new wanted patterns and scramble away the old unwanted patterns or behaviour, leaving you feeling lighter, brighter and in total control of the life you want to live.

Is it the same as Stage Hypnosis?

No. Hypnotherapy, or 'clinical hypnosis' is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes - not for entertainment. You will be in complete control at all times.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a trance-like state. We enter into trance states every day. It can be when we are listening to music or watching TV. By the power of our imagination we can take ourselves into a trance state through day dreaming about a future event or worrying about something that may happen and we play out lots of different scenarios.

Musicians or sportsmen, or women, will often go into a trance like state or 'flow' when playing - their focus of attention is narrowed.

All trance states involve accessing the REM state (Rapid Eye Movement). We go into The REM state just before we go to sleep, this is when dreaming occurs and behavioural patterns are laid down. By working with the REM state, you are able to lay down new patterns of behaviour so that you can rid yourself of phobias, fears or negative thinking and behaviours.

You might be giving yourself a hard time and thinking "Why can't I just stop doing it?". The reason is that we lay down instincts and these are mostly driven by an unconscious processes. So, by going into REM, we are dealing with the unconscious mind to create the desired change.

Hypnosis is a very relaxing and enjoyable experience during which you will feel safe and calm.

I practise Solution Focused Therapy, because it is difficult to cement a new behaviour or pattern in place by just looking at how you haven't done things in the past. I help people connect by going towards their desired future; to go where they really want to be and stay there - no matter what has happened previously.
